Definitions
- The litre is a thousand cubic centimetres — a cube 10 cm on each side. It is accepted for use with SI but is not itself an SI unit.
- The imperial gallon is exactly 4.546 09 litres, about a fifth larger than the US gallon's 3.785 41 litres.
- This conversion is exact by definition. 1 L = 0.2199692483 gal (imp).
- US and imperial units of the same name are different sizes. A US pint is 473 mL; an imperial pint is 568 mL. Every unit below says which system it belongs to.
